Welcome!
I was going to add these all to the front page / posts, but thought it might take up too much room and distract from the whole arts and crafts vibe by rattling on and on about bands.
Being brought up in a house where Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy were on heavy rotation, I have since grown up in to a pretty obsessive music fan, and would like to give something back to the Internet for all the bands I’ve discovered from wiki searches, Myspace links and Youtube suggestions.

I’m going to put a list up here of my favourite musical artists, alphabetically (for easy referencing), but backwards, as there are too many lists that start at “A” and get boring at about “F”… giving the “Z” bands the shitty end of the stick. I’ll also try to skip the obvious “Beatles” and “Guns ‘n Roses” entries, as I doubt anyone reading this needs to be told about them.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of what’s hot and what’s not, but I can guarantee that checking out / buying the music will make you much happier than tuning in to commercial radio.
So, without futher ado :

Z

Zakarrias
UK Folk/Rock/Psych band from 1971. They / he only released one album, and its a great one.
There are dozens of these ‘unknown’ bands that time forgot. I’ll try to point a few out, but the thrill of finding one for yourself cant be beat!
MySpace – Country Out Of Reach

Zoroaster
Heavy, heavy, sludgy rock. From Atlanta, these dudes sit nicely along side Bongzilla, Torche and other mega downtuned bands.
MySpace – Brazen Bull
YouTube – Bullwhip

Zimmer, Hans
The man behind many a great movie soundtrack, but NONE more awesome than Days of Thunder.
YouTube – Days of Thunder (Main Title)

Zomby
If anyone else out there spent a good part of the mid-90s triggering ‘think’ samples on ScreamTracker, then you’ll dig this guy for sure. If you dont understand that last sentence, this is “retro” techno, which sounds like it was totally made 15 years ago (electronic music years are more like dog-years, so its the equivalent a of 90 year old rock album)

Other Z’s to note : ZZ Top /  The Zombies /  Zappa, Frank    <  (i’m too new to the world of Zappa to point out his finest moments yet)

Y

Young Heart Attack
Screamin’ guitar rock with a dude and a hot lady both doing the singing. Twice as noisy as bands with just a dude singing. Listening to this band usually makes me call up my sister to try to get her to start a band… hasn’t happened yet.
MySpace – you can rock to any of their songs…

Young M.C
Bust a fricken’ move yo!
Seems he is still making music… who would have known?
MySpace – YoungMC

The Yardbirds
Pre-Zeppelin Guitar Legend having Psychedelic jam masters.
MySpace - For your love!
YouTube - Heart Full of Soul

Yello
Bowmp Bowmp… Chk…Chka…Chkaaaah
YouTube - Oh Yeah

X

up next… ha! he says, 6 months later.  I will complete this, I promise.
